Venus Retrograde 2026
Venus is about to walk backward through the part of the sky that deals with secrets, shared money, and whether a relationship is actually fair. In a new reading, astrologer Candice Marie of Beyond The Veil Tarot & Astrology calls the 2026 Venus retrograde the heaviest she has seen in sixteen years of practice — not because retrograde itself is a curse, but because this one starts in Scorpio, squares Pluto more than once, and closes an eight-year chapter in love and value.
The video is Venus Retrograde 2026 in Scorpio & Libra: Love, Money & Hidden Truths. Here is the guide in plain language.
The dates, without the fog
This is the only Venus retrograde of 2026. Marie places the turn on October 3, around 2:16 a.m. Central Time, at 8 degrees of Scorpio. Venus then backs into Libra around October 25 and stations direct on November 13, still in Libra. (Some ephemerides put the direct station just after midnight Universal Time on November 14, which is still the evening of the 13th in the Americas. Same moment, different clocks.)
The wider shadow runs from late August into mid-December. Venus has to cross these same degrees three times — forward, backward, then forward again — before the story is finished. Mercury is also retrograde in Scorpio through late October and early November, so conversations, texts, and mixed signals sit on top of the relationship weather.
Two dates matter inside the retrograde itself. Around October 23, Venus meets the Sun at 0 degrees of Scorpio. Astrologers call that meeting a cazimi, “in the heart of the Sun,” and Marie treats it as the rebirth point of the cycle: the last Venus star-point in Scorpio for a very long time. By October 25 the planet has slipped back into Libra, the sign it rules.
Why she calls this one severe
Venus rules attraction, pleasure, art, money, and what you decide is worth keeping. Retrograde does not cancel those things. It turns them inward.
Scorpio is the problem and the point. Modern astrology gives Scorpio to Pluto, the underworld planet. Marie’s image for the whole transit is simple: the flower goes into the underworld to retrieve her jewels. Whatever was lost, faked, or bargained away comes back up for inspection.
She ties that to two old stories. In the descent of Inanna, or Ishtar, the goddess passes seven gates and is stripped of crown, beads, and armor until she arrives naked. She dies, hangs on a hook, and returns — not as the ornamented evening star, but as the sharper morning star, harder to fool. In the Greek telling, Persephone is taken below, eats a few pomegranate seeds, and can come back only for part of the year. Seasons in love and money, in this reading, are not random. Some things have to disappear before they can return, and some should not return at all.
The sky agrees with the myth, in her view. Venus squares Pluto in the pre-shadow (she points to mid-September), again in the third week of October, and once more in late November or early December as it finishes the post-shadow. It also squares Mars, brushes Chiron (old wounds), and makes uneasy contacts with Neptune and Uranus — the “what you cannot see” planet and the surprise planet. October 3 itself is crowded: a last-quarter Moon, the Sun opposite Saturn, Mars opposite Pluto.
Stationing at the 8th degree makes it louder still. In degree theory, the 8th is the underworld degree: debts, shared resources, sex, inheritance, what was buried and did not stay buried. Marie’s shorthand is that this is not a mild Venus retrograde. It is a Plutonian one.
What the Scorpio half tends to stir
From October 3 to about October 25, the questions are private and blunt.
Who actually has your back? Where is the trust thin? Is shared money fair, or is it a leash? What are you still wearing so someone will stay — the softened tone, the lowered price, the body project that does not feel like you?
Scorpio does not ask whether something is pretty. It asks which gate you are still standing at, and what you refuse to put down. Marie expects jealousy, power struggles, secrets, and third-party tangles, especially with Mercury retrograde in the same sign. Messaging apps are a hot zone in this reading: the ex who texts “are you up,” the thread you were not supposed to see, the person you blocked and then unblocked.
She also ties this loop to the eight-year Venus cycle. The last similar retrograde ran through these degrees in 2018 (and a related one in 2010). In her own chart, both cycles asked the same question in different costumes: what am I refusing to change, and where am I standing in my own way? In 2018 she knew a relationship was over and unhealthy, ignored that, and stayed another year. The earlier cycle mixed love and money until a secret she had suspected finally had facts attached to it.
If something from roughly eight years ago is knocking, that is the mechanism she is describing — not fate, a review.
What changes when Venus backs into Libra
After October 25 the tone shifts from excavation to negotiation. Libra is Venus’s own sign, so the planet is less of a stranger there. The question becomes whether the deal is balanced: effort, money, commitment, courtesy, the terms you would actually sign.
Marie does not treat this half as a soft landing. By then the Scorpio weeks have already produced evidence. Libra is what you do with it. Keep, renegotiate, or release. She also reads the longer arc — this being the last Scorpio star-point for a long stretch, with the next similar point landing in Libra around 2034 — as a slow cultural turn back toward commitment, diplomacy, and a less ornamental idea of beauty. That is her forecast, not a guarantee.
What to do, and what to leave alone
The standard retrograde list is familiar: do not marry on a whim, do not make a huge purchase to soothe a feeling, go easy on cosmetic work and dramatic restyles, and do not treat a volatile week as the moment to lock in an investment or a price. Marie agrees with that on the surface. She also says it is too blunt. The useful move depends on which house this hits and whether you have planets in early Scorpio or the later degrees of Libra.
Her practical version:
Look back to mid-September. Where did an uncomfortable truth show up that you did not know what to do with? That is the preview.
Check 0 to 9 degrees of Scorpio, and about 22 to 29 degrees of Libra, in your chart. Those are the degrees Venus actually retraces. Taurus and Libra placements feel it as their ruling planet under strain.
Do not make a chapter-ending decision in a chapter that is still being rewritten. Gather the facts. Wait for the direct station, and in her view for mid-December, before you treat the picture as finished.
Notice the performance. The pleasant voice, the discount, the version of yourself kept for approval — those are the jewels Inanna has to set down.
If an ex or an old money arrangement returns, ask whether you want the person or the pattern.
She is clear that this is not a universal script. The same sky lands in different houses. A Scorpio-house story about intimacy is not the same as a second-house story about pricing, or a seventh-house story about the actual contract.
Astrology of this kind is symbolic weather, not legal, financial, or medical advice. The useful part is the audit: what you value, what you have been performing, and what only works if nobody looks underneath it.
